Lerms Illustation

Carlos Lerma’s portfolio is full of rich illustration. There’s some great portraits but my favourites are his personal work. T-Shirts of the toothy slug monster above over at Cafe Press.

Michael A Salter has a mix of illustrative art on his site but what caught my eye were these giant robot sculptures. I love the simplicity of the top one, where he’s used plain boxes almost as pixels to create the shape, bound together with his own customised tape. Simple but brilliant. Kind of digital looking and handmade at the same time. Wouldn’t it be great if we had more outdoor sculptures like this in our parks and stations ? ( Obviously not of cardboard ;) ) You could eat your lunch sitting on the feet of a huge robot – what’s not to like about that : )

Eddy - Made by Nicky

This is Eddy. I made him a while ago. He’s made from a dogtooth tweed, finished with a felt mouth and Olive Wood buttons from Loop. He’s about a foot wide and comfy to sleep on ; ) I’ve just bought my exciting big camera to take a proper photo. If you want a new camera get a Canon G9 - it’s the nuts!

Nik just gave me a good WordPress tip to make my posts more Google-able.. My post Urls used to end with incomprehensible random numbers, but if you stick this little thing, /%postname%/ into the custom structure box, under Options and Permalinks, you get lovely permanent post urls in English, like this ..

http://www.monster-munch.com/retro-mac-system-icon-timepiece … Nice  : )

I’ve just changed my perma links, so sorry if you’ve linked to me recently and you’re wondering where the pages went ; )

City Of Crazy Dolls by Davison Carvalho

This is the best thing i’ve seen in ages. These characters are so simple but with those amazing expressions, and overlayed in a rich dense composition it reminds me of the e-boy city scapes. See the full piece here, although it mentions it’s only work in progress, i think it’s amazing as it is.

“This is just a small part of an experimental BIG Illustration, for an future Advertising of our Designers Collective called “Weeneeds”, This was designed and produced by Me at my Design Studio called FOMA. Cricolina give me a little hand on making the buildings. All done in Adobe Illustrator CS3 – All vector, not pixel art.
I just don’t post the Full City cos it’s too big, ok!”

More sketches and a plushy from the City Scape here.
