Handpainted Signs
Lovely work by Jeff Canham, San Franciscan artist. Don’t miss his Gallery Work ( and lots more besides ) plus this timelapse movie of a sign for Mollusk Surf Shop in New York.

Although it’s popular to sound cynical and bored with Banksy these days, i still think there’s something very appealing about the thought of sneaking around in the dark, batman-styley, doing naughty things to buildings. And i’d rather my urban world be filled with ‘advertising’ of this nature than billboards blandly selling mundane household goods any day. I was on my way into town on Sunday when i spotted this from miles off. I couldn’t understand how i’d never seen it before, lamenting my seemingly unobservant nature on the way to Topshop… When today, it turns out it was snuck up on Saturday night! – scaffolding and all. So it’s fresh this weekend. Image nicked from Wooster Collective. Banksy there’s a massive blank wall on the end of my house you can have. Come and get it!
Tshirts, Logos and Illustrations here from Lifter Baron. Great sketchbook and some good looking print work too. Note: All portfolios sent that include a decent monster in them get immediate posting to Monster-Munch ;) Ha!
Oh! So good. Love the Love, perfect colours and very subtle wire texture. Most gorgeous thing i’ve seen in ages. The digital contrasted with the hand drawn, the wobbly-lined flyer for Lush is busting with character. The type on the back is a wonderful combination of hand typefaces that create an, oddly, both vintage and modern feel. I can’t get enough of hand drawn type. The swishing curves of the logo are plump it looks almost squeezable. Yum. Love is by graphic designer Paul Barnes ( designer of the KateMoss logo and the Guardian typeface ) and Lush I believe is by Alex Ginter via german site Slanted.
This lizard is clearly off-his-tits. Take it away Mr.Balloon Hands. Seen on The Worlds Best Ever.
Amazing idea. Can’t remember how i found this now, but check out the timelapse video, it’s a fantastic. The type is formed ( as you can see ) through a complex array of perforations aligned with the passing of the sun. The poem takes about 8hrs to sweep through the full text. Based around the solar calendar, winter and summer display different poems. Extremely clever. Read the detailed description, see development sketches and don’t miss the ingenious video of initial experiments creating type from light and pin holes. By Kyle Bean. Great model ; ) i love that even the track pad’s been cut out through a couple of pages. Lots of interesting sketches and animations on his site including the adventures of a Delivery Box, How to hold a Bunny, and Boris the Alien. Check him out : ) Link Via It’s Nice That
How charming … ;) ( Product design by Enpieza – check out their Biro Lamp too!)
Reminds me of this amazing t-shirt John made ages ago – Treehouse Error. Makes me laugh! Very dark.
Or should that be ‘Bag-Shoe’ ? Hmmm. I guess if you had a pair it would be. Whatever… I like it! I once went to a Chavs Vs Goths fancy dress party with a rather fetching pink-stiletto-bag constructed in a similar vein. It’s amazing what you could get for 4 quid on Bromley high street…
Nice way to walk to work ; ) Kick off those shoes and walk through the daisies. Via Ffffound.
Love these Cassette wallets. Extremely suitable items to take to a ClubPub….
Do you remember the Colour Flip site i posted a while back ? Rafaël Rozendaal, the artist who created it, has turned them into a series of paintings … I love that idea. Doing a painting of a website ; ) But also a set of paintings showing something digital in it’s different guises over time. I’m sure you could apply that idea in an interesting way to lots of things… Nice. I think making something as cheesy as a page-curl into ‘art’ is hilarious : ) Via the Roope.
Cute little Amigurumi Alien chap by Noisy Pitta. Cheers for the link Marc ;) He looks well tricky to make!
