Monster-Munch - SockMonsters, People Making Things, Graphics, Typography, Illustration, all the good stuff.

Firefox is having a bit of gender confusion. The results are in, and it turns out i’m actually a boy! ( In case you didn’t know i am in fact “a laaaady” ). So as you can imagine that news came as a bit of a surprise.

My Browser Thinks Im A Boy

Apparently by comparison i surf in a much more butch manner on my work machine than my home machine. Statistically speaking i’m a good 10% more butch at work ;) Why is that huh ? Is it all the grot you Poke boys send round ? haha.

Test yourself here with Mike’s special formula! It’s pretty interesting.

Grass Flip Flops

Seen on It’s Green Design. Grass FlipFlops developed by MisChief for Krispy Kreme (??)

“Each shoe has over 5,000 blades of grass and, if regularly tended to and watered, can last for over four months. We’re giving them away to stressed out commuters so they can relax in their own mini-park.”

They follow on nicely from the Green Grass Man and the Perpetual Grass Pavement! I think maybe grassy armchairs in the park next ?

NymphLamp

Nymph, Lycia, & Miniformiga, centipede-like lamps. I love this top white one. Would look great on my desk ;) But gosh it’s quite expensive! More lovely luminous critters over at Site Specific Design.

AfterDark StampRings

More good stuff from Afroditi! The dating hand stamp. Grab someone’s hand, one shake and your phone number’s inked on for the morning ; )

WorldView BalloonLamp

Interesting floating lamp concept from Afroditi. I like that you can extend the height really simply. They’d be perfect to light a space for Sock Monster making workshops! Would be great to use a huge cloud of them.

Yvonne Laurysen of Lama

Cool rugs made of strips of thick felt assembled to make random patterns. One even looks as though it might have LEDs in it. Floor lighting. I like it! I found these while rummaging through the Sub Studio blog that’s chocca with nicely considered and unusual furniture and lighting designs. The rugs are the work of Yvonne Laurysen at Lama. Some nice simple furniture on there too.

Here’s some Lomos i took on my recent trip to hook up with my lovely Cookie and his buddy Paul as they attempt to walk the full length of America in 6 months. Mental or what! ? I met up with them in Colorado for a couple of weeks and here’s some shots of them about camp and in action on the trail. The scenery was unbelievable. I had no idea it would be so beautiful. Find out all about the epic adventure and track Cookie and Paul’s progress in the second half here. You can sponsor them too ;) Only half a penny per mile!

The Bridport Dagger - Animation by Allan Sanders Allan Sanders’ animation for South London band The Bridport Dagger and their single Magpie’s Nest. Allan has a great portfolio of illustration work with a mix of both 50’s retro and hand-drawn feel. There’s too much good stuff to show here so go there and have a look yourself ;)

Animals Grizzly Fate

A grizzly fate befell rabbit. Impaled on his own dinner. An unfortunate way to go. More guts and gore here including a self decapitating teddy, a crochet zimmer-frame, and dentures in a jar :)
